SRINAGAR: In order to bring some relief to distressed livestock farmers and pet owners, who do not have access to veterinary facilities due to on-going lockdown imposed in view of the COVID19 outbreak, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has launched telemedicine services across Kashmir.
The veterinary care by the university’s Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry would be provided free of cost on telephone, WhatsApp and email to the people in need of such services.
Farmers and pet owners can contact on 9419056964 and 9541159297 for any kind of consultation with regard to general healthcare guidance or prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in their animals.
Consultation from more than 30 veterinary scientists, assistant professors, associate professors and professors of the Faculty’s medicine, surgery and gynaecology disciplines will be made available directly or facilitated by internees, alumni and para-vets spread across the valley and beyond as per the need and requirement of a farmer.
Prof MR Fazili, head of the university’s Veterinary Clinical Complex will be the nodal officer of the programme.
The service will continue beyond lockdown period to extend the veterinary care to hitherto uncovered and far flung areas of the region.
